New Visions has CALL FOR ART!

image by Johnathan Lewis © jmlewisonline.com

Are you an artist who doesn't have a full body or work to exhibit? Or maybe you have a few pieces you really want to show. Do you ever create work that stems from your family or your relationship with them?
New Visions is hosting a CALL FOR ART for a juried group exhibit for the month of June, "Family Ties".
This exhibition's central theme will be family, and the role of a father in the eyes of the artist. The role of the father figure, and the idea of family is of course up for interpretation and we encourage artists to approach these traditional themes in innovative and challenging ways.

Family Ties will be juried by NYC based fine art photographer, Johnathan Michael Lewis.
Johnathan Lewis (1982) received his BFA in Photography from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design and is an award-winning photographer who has exhibited nationally and is in several well-known private collections. From studio portraits of Gay men which explore themes of body ideals and perceptions of masculinity, to documentary style images capturing life in Peru; the subject matter in Johnathan's work varies greatly. However, the underlying thread connecting each body of work is a precise and methodically trained artistic eye, with a keen sense of color, lighting and composition.
For more information on the juror and to view his personal projects and commercial work please visit his website.

Updates for New Visions!

Hello fans on New Visions Studio & Gallery!
Our gallery has undergone a number of changes in the last month and I will use this blog post to get everyone up to speed. We have closed our Taylor location (at 11 S. Keyser Ave.) and are currently renovating our new location at 201 Vine Street in downtown Scranton. Our Grand re-Opening will be on May 6th 6-9pm at our new place! Please join us in celebrating this wonderful move. If you frequent First Friday, then add us to your regular route. Or if you have never been to First Friday, let us introduce you to the monthly art event and expose you to local artists. We are excited to join the other local business in downtown Scranton on First Friday and will bring a new and exciting outlook on what is possible in the world of artistic expression.
See our Facebook event to learn more about out opening exhibit and our First Friday debut:

Before closing the doors to our Taylor location, co-owner and Curator Melanie Boisseau was honored with NEPA's Times Leader 40 Under 40 Award! Melanie has only lived in the area since August of last year, so this is a huge accomplishment in the short amount of time she has been here. Thank you to all who nominated her and for supporting New Visions
